NEW YORK (AP) — Palace extended his winning streak to three with a 112-length victory over Strapping Groom in the $300,000 Fall Highweight Handicap on Thursday at Aqueduct.
A 4-year-old trained by Linda Rice, Palace rallied for his eighth victory in 14 starts. Cornelio Velasquez was aboard for the six furlongs in 1:09.82 on the track rated good.
Palace beat New York-breds in his previous two outings. This was his first stakes win in open company, and he did so while carrying a career-high 129 pounds.
Palace paid $7.40, $4.10 and $3.30. Strapping Groom returned $6 and $3.40 while The Lumber Guy paid $3.70 to show.
