KIMBERLEY, South Africa (AP) — Ishod Wair of Hamilton, N.J., has won the Maloof Money Cup Skateboarding World Championships and $100,000.
Hometown favorite Tommy Fynn, born in Durban, South Africa, beat Ryan Decenzo in the semifinals for a shot at the title, but fell just short, taking second place and $40,000.
Elliott Sloan landed a 900 tailgrab, his first-ever 900-degree jump, to take the Mini Megaramp Best Trick contest. The 900 — or 212 rotations — was also the first on the continent.
Earlier, Pierre-Luc Gagnon won the vert contest and $75,000. Bob Burnquist was second and Pedro Barros third.
