NEW YORK (AP) — For the second straight year, Novak Djokovic fought off two match points against Roger Federer in the U.S. Open semifinals and got the victory — this time, a 6-7 (6), 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 7-5 win Saturday over the five-time champion.

The top-seeded Djokovic improved to 63-2 in 2011 and is one victory away from his first title at Flushing Meadows and third Grand Slam trophy of the year.

One of Djokovic’s two losses this season came to Federer in the French Open semifinals.

Djokovic reached his third U.S. Open final; he lost to Federer in 2007 and Rafael Nadal in 2010. On Monday, Djokovic will face Nadal or Andy Murray, whose semifinal was later Saturday.

For Federer, Saturday’s loss closes his eight-year streak of winning at least one Grand Slam title each season.
