Boys basketball: Hockinson 48, Woodland 41

The Hawks used a pair of first-half runs to build a 14-point lead, then held off the visiting Beavers in the second half of the Class 2A Greater St. Helens League opener for both teams.

Hockinson (4-9) opened the game with a 9-0 spurt, and scored seven straight points late in the first half to lead 30-16.

Woodland (3-7) pulled within five points and had twice had chances to get closer in the fourth quarter.

Hayden Hall paced a balanced Hockinson attack with 10 points.

Tanner Huddleston made five 3-pointers and scored 19 ppoints for the Beavers. He had a 3-pointer roll off the rim with Woodland trailing by five in the final minute of the game.
