A man whom witnesses said was dressed “like a ninja” attempted to rob a bar in the Minnehaha neighborhood just before midnight Wednesday, Vancouver Police Department Spokeswoman Kim Kapp said.

A bartender at Jake’s Bar & Grill, 4602 N.E. St. Johns Road, called police at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday to report that a man holding an expandable baton walked into the bar and requested money from the register, Kapp said.

When the bartender explained there was no money in the till, the man left on foot, she said.

Kapp said the man didn’t threaten anyone with the baton and no one was injured.

Police used a canine to search the area, but did not find the suspect.

The man was described as six-feet tall, in his late 20s or early 30s and wearing all black, with a thin black cloth over his face with cut-out eye holes.
