Hockinson grad Chambers qualifies for U.S. Amateur

Hockinson High School graduate and current University of Washington golfer Gerrit Chambers tied for second at an Oregon qualifying tournament on Monday to earn a spot in the 2013 U.S. Amateur Championship, Aug. 12-18 at Brookline Country Club.

The upcoming UW senior shot 7-under 65 in the second round at OGA Golf Course in Woodburn to finish with a two round total of 8-under 136 and tie for second overall. He was two shots behind sectional winner Justin Kadin.

Chambers is the fifth Husky to punch his ticket for the U.S. Am. He joins Cheng-Tsung Pan, Trevor Simsby, Jonathan Sanders and Charlie Hughes in the field.
