PORTLAND — State Rep. Dennis Richardson’s campaign says the Republican has raised $350,000 for his gubernatorial campaign in the last month.

The fundraising haul is the subject of an email to supporters scheduled for release on Thursday and obtained by The Associated Press.

The money helps Richardson close a wide financial gap between him and Democratic Gov. John Kitzhaber, though his total fundraising still lags Kitzhaber’s significantly.

Richardson’s campaign would not say how much money he has in the bank. He has focused heavily on fundraising in recent weeks and was assisted by an appeal this month from former presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

Campaigns have 30 days to report contributions, and many of Richardson’s latest have not yet been filed.
