A Washougal man is in critical condition after he was struck by a pickup in Camas on Monday evening.

Richard Fash, 55, was walking across Northeast Third Avenue from Fourth Street at about 6:30 p.m. Monday when he was struck by a westbound pickup truck, Camas police Sgt. Scot Boyles said.

Fash was rushed to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition Tuesday.

The driver of the truck, Debrah Huebner, 60, of Washougal, remained on scene and cooperated with investigators, Boyles said.

Police are still working to determine what caused the crash, but Boyles said that the preliminary investigation showed that Huebner was not impaired and speed did not appear to be a factor.

“She wasn’t doing anything reckless when the collision occurred,” Boyles said.

Clark County Sheriff’s Office traffic detectives are assisting Camas police with the investigation. Washougal police, Battle Ground police and Clark County Public Works all assisted at the scene, Boyles said.
