DODSON, Ore. — The upper trail at Multnomah Falls, closed last week due to a landslide, has been reopened, the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area announced today.

Larch Mountain trail No. 441 is open completely beyond Benson Bridge.

The landslide originated from the the top of the cliffs just east of Multnomah Falls. Rocks and debris fell down the cliff to the upper plunge pool, according to the Forest Service.

Even though no damage occurred from the slide, the trail was closed for safety from potential falling debris from unstable root wads at the top of the slide. The hazard has fallen from the cliff and the trail is reopen.

A landslide about a quarter mile up Wahkeena trail No. 420 has washed out part of the trail, but it is passable with caution. The Forest Service and Pacific Crest Trail Association plan on making repairs next mouth.

Oneonta trail No. 424 is closed due to a slide one mile south of the trailhead. The slide prevents access to Triple Falls, but the Horsetail-Oneonta loop is open.
