Letter: Weak retort empowers Obama

The Columbian
Published: February 6, 2014, 4:00pm

The bland, uninspiring speech that passed for the GOP’s “reply” to President Obama’s State of the Union address sounded like it had been written by Democrats.

In it, nothing was said about the disastrous $17.3 trillion national debt, nor about near trillion dollar deficits, nor the 12 million illegal aliens taking the jobs of unemployed Americans, or of the attempts by totalitarian liberals to disarm our people through gun control, or about Obama’s disastrous and unaffordable Obamacare bill, or about Obama’s unconstitutional circumventing of Congress in his drive for dictatorial power.

The tragic fact is that the Republican leadership is run by RINOs (Republican In Name Only) like House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, who collaborate with the party of big, obtrusive, socialistic government. To re-establish America as “The Shining City on a Hill,” Republicans must vigorously oppose these radical Democrats.
