A Vancouver man was sentenced Tuesday to 10 months in jail for participating in an April gang assault and robbery of two male victims outside a Vancouver apartment complex.

William Tillmon, 19, pleaded guilty in Clark County Superior Court to second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and felony rioting while armed with a deadly weapon, said Deputy Prosecutor Dan Gasperino.

Tillmon is one of at least three men accused of attacking and robbing the two victims April 19 as they walked in front of the Evergreen Village Apartments, 2501 N.E. 138th Ave. Tillmon, Raul G. Marquez, 18, and J.N. Tosi, 19, allegedly were armed with baseball bats, bottles, rocks and knives. The victims’ ages were not disclosed in court records.

Tillmon and Tosi are accused of attacking one of the victims with a baseball bat and taking his backpack. Tosi also is accused of shattering a third victim’s vehicle window during the incident. Tosi is scheduled to go to trial March 24 on charges of first-degree robbery, felony rioting and third-degree malicious mischief.

One victim said Marquez struck him over the head with a glass bottle and then stole a skateboard from him, according to a court affidavit. The victim reportedly identified Marquez in a photo lineup.

Marquez pleaded guilty Dec. 13 to second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and felony rioting while armed with a deadly weapon and was sentenced to 366 days in prison, Gasperino said.

Vancouver police in court records stated that Tillmon, Tosi and Marquez are members of the Real Money Hustlers, “a clique of loosely associated Crip and Sureno gang members” who claim the area of Northeast 138th Avenue and Northeast 28th Street.

However, Marquez wrote in a jail postcard to The Columbian that the police’s information was incorrect. Marquez said he’s a member of the Eighteen Street Gang.
