Free boat safety checks set for Saturday at Marine Park

Free vessel safety checks will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Marine Park along the Columbia River in Vancouver.

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and Clark County Marine Patrol will provide the checks of boats for required and safety items. Those who pass the free inspection will receive a decal indicating their boat meets safety standards.

A class on marine band radio operation is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 25 at the Clark County Public Works Operation Center, 4700 N.E. 78th St., Building B-1.

Offered by the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, the class will cost $10. It includes marine band radio operation, protocols, installation and more.
