Weather Eye: After a brief break, warmer temperatures returning Wednesday

The marine clouds were a welcome sight and feel Monday as cooler ocean air replaced the desert-like heat we had seen for a few days. We will get another shot of it today before things clear out and warm back up Wednesday and beyond. Endless summer?

There is still no rainfall in sight, at least for the next 10 days or so. We remain dry and dusty. Some models showed maybe some mist or drizzle around for early today but not noteworthy if it occurred.

Talk about dry: Since July 25, Vancouver has measured 0.04 inch of rain. Everywhere in Southern California, Nevada and Arizona it seems has had much more rain, not to mention the record rainfall Monday in Phoenix. But such areas as Las Vegas, Death Valley and San Diego all had buckets of rain.

Will we make it back into the 90s again this year? There is a chance Friday and Saturday, as forecast models indicate east winds again. Even the ocean beaches will get in on it again, so plan on 80s down there Saturday.

All summer the weather pattern has had a warm ridge of high pressure over us and a deep trough of low pressure over the central U.S. A cold shot of air is plunging down this week once again. It was snowing in Alberta.

That pattern continues this winter, according to The Farmer’s Almanac.

Of course we won’t have a warm ridge of high pressure over us but a rather dry and chilly winter overall, according to the magic formula of the Almanac. Stay tuned; I will post another prediction soon.
