Construction is set to begin in early September to widen and improve Northeast 94th Avenue from Padden Parkway to Northeast 99th Avenue.

Most of that section of roadway is narrow and has no shoulders or turn lanes.

Construction is scheduled to end in fall 2016. It will add a center turn lane, sidewalks and drainage improvements. A bicycle lane and sidewalk will be built on the west side of Northeast 94th Avenue, and a shared pedestrian-cyclist path will be built on the east side.

A right-turn lane will be added to Padden Parkway for westbound vehicles turning north on Northeast 94th Avenue, along with acceleration lanes for vehicles to speed up before merging.

The project is managed by Tapani Inc., a Battle Ground-based contractor, and is expected to cost $8.47 million, with more than half the project being paid for by state and federal grants.
