Although clouds increased during the day Wednesday, it was still warm and pleasant — by February standards, anyway. Afternoon temperatures were in the mid- to upper 50s; if we would have had sunshine, it would have been 60 degrees or higher.
I think the clouds will decrease and we will see highs of 60 or higher today and Friday. Strong high pressure dominates the region, although not quite enough to allow those clouds from a weakening disturbance to move through. Sprinkles were possible in Southwest Washington today but nothing to write home about.
High pressure will strengthen and hold for a week or so. As I mentioned here earlier, next week we could see some cooler east winds and highs dropping back to 50 degrees or so. Overnight lows in wind-sheltered areas will be at the frost point or below.
I have most of the local rainfall reports from January and will share with you on Sunday. Vancouver already has more rain this month than we had in all of January, with 3.54 inches in February so far, compared withJanuary’s 3.35 inches. The next week or so looks rather dry, so we won’t add much, if any, to that total. Maybe the last week of the month?
