OLYMPIA — Nominations will be accepted through Feb. 27 for member of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Cowlitz River Advisory Group.

The ad hoc group meets about four times a year to advise the department on fishing opportunities and conserving wild fish runs.

The department initially formed the group in 2010 to advise fish managers involved in updating the Cowlitz River Fishery and Hatchery Management Plan, which established Tacoma Power’s obligations for hatchery production and fish management in the basin.

The plan is scheduled to be updated again in 2016.

Among the issues to be addressed include the quantity and six of fish produced at the Cowlitz hatchery complex as well as strategies for maximizing natural salmon and steelhead production.

A nomination form, along with email and postal addresses for submissions is available at http://wdfw.wa.gov/about/advisory/crag/nominations.html.
