LONG BEACH — Razor clam digging continues through Wednesday on the Long Beach Peninsula.

Dan Ayres, coastal shellfish manager for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, noted that the timing of afternoon low tides will allow for some daylight digging.

Low tides are: today, 4:01 p.m., 0.2 feet; Friday, 4:49 p.m., -0.2 feet; Saturday, 5:32 p.m., -0.5 feet; Sunday, 6:12 p.m., -0.5 feet; Monday, 6:48 p.m., -0.5 feet; Tuesday, 7:23 p.m., -0.3 feet, and Wednesday, 7:57 p.m., -0.1 feet.

“With afternoon low tides in their favor, diggers can hit the beach in the daylight,” Ayres said.

Diggers can take 15 razor clams per day and are required to keep the first 15 they dig. Each digger’s clams must be kept in a separate container.

“Of course weather always plays a factor, but in recent weeks many diggers have harvested their limits and picked up good-sized clams of 4 to 5 inches,” he said.

The next series of clam digs tentatively is scheduled for Jan. 17 through Jan. 24, eight days. The low tides are at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17 and 5:02 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 18.

A three-day razor clam license costs $8.60. An annual razor clam license costs $13 for state residents.
