Vancouver — Westfield Vancouver mall’s Nordstrom store will close its doors for good today, one of two Portland-area Nordstroms being eliminated from the Seattle-based retailer’s roster.

The Vancouver store and the Nordstrom at Lloyd Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. With the closure of the two locations, the region’s Nordstrom shoppers will be left with the choice of stores in downtown Portland, Washington Square, and Clackamas Town Center. The company also operates four Nordstrom Rack stores.

Nordstrom announced the closures last spring, saying the stores were smaller and less profitable than other stores in the national chain.

Westfield Vancouver mall officials say they expect to announce a tenant soon for a portion of the vacated retail space. In Portland, Lloyd Center officials have said that the store space will be converted to other uses as part of a larger renovation of the urban mall.

Some 300 employees are affected by the closures. For a full story about the Westfield Vancouver mall Nordstrom, see Sunday’s Columbian.
