Letter: Get on knees and pray

The Columbian
Published: January 22, 2015, 4:00pm

“Unless the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it” — Psalm 127:1

We live in very troubled times, most everyone agrees about that. But it seems that the solution for our troubles is not shared by most people. Finding a solution is not likely until human beings realize there is a natural law written by our Creator on the heart of every human being. They are essentially the Ten Commandments; the first three commandments deal with our obligations toward God, while the last seven outline our obligations toward our fellow man and society.

We must make a personal choice to learn how to obey the commandments and to turn away from breaking or acting contrary to them. Thus the evils of abortion, cursing, taking God’s name in vain, immodesty and impure acts and divorce are just some of the reasons our society is under attack from all manner of moral and physical evils. We must examine our lives to see where we are failing and make changes. Above all, get on our knees and pray.
