Volunteers are needed to count runners, walkers and cyclists on trails and pathways scattered about Clark County in mid-September.

Sixty volunteers are needed to help with counts from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 15 through 17 and 9 to 11 a.m. Sept. 19 and 20 at seven locations. Volunteers will be trained how to conduct and record trail counts.

The locations include Frenchmen’s Bar and Vancouver Lake trail at Blurock Landing trailhead, Salmon Creek Greenway trail at the Vancouver Girls Softball Association trailhead, Columbia River Renaissance trail, Burnt Bridge Creek trail at the Northeast Devine Road trailhead, Northwest 78th Street-Lakeshore Avenue, Padden Parkway at Northeast 94th Avenue and Lacamas trail at the Northeast Goodwin Road trailhead.

The training seasons will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Clark County Public Works Operation Center, 4700 N.E. 78th St., and 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sept. 10 at Vancouver City Hall, 415 W. Sixth St.

Trail count data is used to plan future trails and support grant applications and other funding requests.
