Officers arrested one of the state’s most wanted fugitives Thursday afternoon, after a vehicle and foot chase that started when an off-duty Clark County Sheriff’s deputy reported seeing a reckless driver on Northeast St. James Road.

The deputy saw a red Nissan Pathfinder driving southbound around 2 p.m. and called 911, and records showed the vehicle had been stolen, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver turned into the Steeple Chase Apartments at 4617 N.E. St. Johns Road. Deputies arrived in the area and attempted to stop the vehicle, but when the man drove away, a deputy drove a patrol vehicle into the Nissan to stop it, according to the sheriff’s office.

Despite the maneuver, what police call a pursuit intervention technique, the sheriff’s office said the man tried to drive away, and the deputy pushed the Pathfinder into a tree and an empty parked car in the apartment’s parking lot.

The deputy struck the SUV to prevent property damage or harm to pedestrians, the sheriff’s office said. It said the man, who was unable to drive away, then fled on foot.

Deputies caught up with him on the 4900 block of St. Johns Road, where he was taken into custody. The sheriff’s office said no one was hurt in the incident. The sheriff’s office said the man tossed aside a handgun, which the police later recovered, during the foot chase.

Deputies arrested the man, 23-year-old Timothy Michael Delisle, on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, attempting to elude a traffic stop, possession of a handgun as a felon and possession of methamphetamine. He’s also being held on a felony warrant from the Washington Department of Corrections.

Delisle is listed as one of Department of Correction’s most wanted. The agency’s website said Delisle, of Portland, was wanted for a vehicular assault stemming from driving under the influence or by driving recklessly in Clark County.
