Weather Eye: Here comes that change some of you may have been wanting

If you wanted a change in the weather, I have news for you. No hot weather in the foreseeable future, and from later on Tuesday through the weekend, we have a “chance” of showers in the daily forecast.

Could we have seen our last 90-degree weather for the year? We had highs of 91 degrees on Wednesday, 94 on Thursday and 96 on Friday. That makes nine high temperatures of 90 degrees or higher this month. Not too shabby

Vancouver’s average mean temperature so far this month is 72 degrees, 1.5 degrees above average. Rainfall is at a paltry 0.13 inch, one-half inch below normal. We need some rain to help settle the dust and lower the fire danger.

We may get our wish. The National Climate Center is predicting temperatures for later this week and into the first half of September to be below average, and rainfall above average.

I wouldn’t expect much rain to fall, as the main storm track remains across southern British Columbia and Northern Washington, but it will be close enough to perhaps spatter some rain upon us.

It is still summer, and I think we’ll have a pleasant September. I wouldn’t complain about a few bouts of rain to refresh the countryside. We have a lot to be thankful for; it has been a wonderful spring and summer.

The weather was most welcoming Saturday for the Hood to Coast runners at Seaside. After the hot run in the 90s Friday, it was in the mid-60s Saturday afternoon. Remember last year? A powerful storm brought torrential rains and gale-force winds between 60 and 70 mph that blew over most of their tents and cabanas.
