The National Park Service will team with the Evergreen and Vancouver school districts to host the annual Children’s Cultural Parade at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site on Friday, May 27.

The parade begins at 10:15 a.m. at Pearson Air Museum, 1115 E. Fifth St.; it continues north on East Reserve Street, turning west on Evergreen Boulevard and finally turning south to follow the park road across East Fifth Street straight into the reconstructed fur trade-era fort at 1001 E. Fifth St.

The parade will include school marching bands and more than 1,500 third- and fourth-grade students.

Fort Vancouver Superintendent Tracy Fortmann, Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt and school officials will lead the parade. Inside the fort, re-enactors will greet the visitors.

The public is invited to join the participants at 11 a.m. inside the reconstructed fort. The entrance fee will be waived for the event, which will end at 11:45 a.m.

Before 9:30 a.m., parking will be available at the fort and Visitor Center lots. Additional street parking will be available.
