Vancouver Solid Waste Services is working with Clark County Environmental Services to host a Green Neighbors Recycling Day Event for Vancouver residents from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May, 21, at Fisher’s Landing Transit Center, 3510 S.E. 164th Ave.

The event gives Vancouver residents an opportunity to drop off block foam, electronic equipment, old tires without rims, refrigerators, freezers, air-conditioning units and scrap metals. Each vehicle is allowed to bring only five tires.

For sensitive documents, up to two banker boxes per person can be shredded.

Hazardous materials, including paints, pesticides, poisons, automotive fluids and other chemicals, won’t be accepted. Clark County residents should dispose of household hazardous waste for free at the following transfer stations:

• Central Transfer and Recycling Center, 11034 N.E. 117th Ave., Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• West Vancouver Materials Recovery Center, 6601 N.W. Old River Road, Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• Washougal Transfer Station, 4020 S. Grant St., third Saturday of the month, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Recycling Day events are free. The events are sponsored by a Washington State Department of Ecology grant.
