The Battle Ground Police Department arrested a man after responding early Monday morning to an attempted car prowl, and now the police are asking people to keep an eye out for a second suspect who got away.

The department said an officer got a call about an in-progress vehicle break-in at about 2:30 a.m. near the 1300 block of N.W. 15th Court.

As the officer pulled up, the caller pointed out two suspects entering a vehicle a couple of blocks away. The two got out of the vehicle and ran when the officer began approaching them, according to police. The officer gave chase on foot and apprehended Greg John Bambrook, 35, of Vancouver in a home’s backyard. Bambrook, who had a warrant out for his arrest, was taken into custody.

Officers found multiple stolen items in the vehicle, include bank cards, IDs, purses, wallets and tablet computers. They also found the vehicle had been reported as stolen in Vancouver.

Officers brought out a police dog to search for a second suspect, but were unsuccessful.

Investigators identified the second suspect as Jeremy Moulton, 27, of Vancouver. Moulton was described by police as a white man with brown hair and brown eyes, who is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 145 pounds. He also wears a large bandage on his face to cover an abscess, the police said.

The department asked anyone with information about the crime or Moulton’s whereabouts to contact Detective Sgt. Aaron Kanooth at 360-342-5254 or aaron.kanooth@cityofbg.org. Alternatively, people may leave anonymous tips at www.cityofbg.org/tips.

The department also reminded motorists to lock their vehicles and avoid leaving valuables in them.
