Vancouver Public Schools seeks participants for its 24th year with the Lunch Buddy program. In the program, adult mentors are matched with students who need a positive adult role model. Buddies have lunch together at school once a week and get to know each other through reading, playing games or chatting.

There will be an informational session at noon on Oct. 26 at Bates Center for Educational Leadership, 2901 Falk Road, Suite 102, Vancouver.

Meals on Wheels People is seeking 200 volunteers to deliver meals to homebound seniors on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24. Meals are picked up at one of five locations throughout the metro area between 10 and 11 a.m.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license, their own car, vehicle insurance and will have to undergo a criminal background check.

To register as a Thanksgiving Day driver, go to volunteer.mealsonwheelspeople.org. Paperwork must be submitted by Nov. 18, in Washington, and by Oct. 28 in Oregon. For information, call 503-953-8101.
