It was a shock to learn that all I have to do is go to C-Tran’s transit center for a route booklet, which is free through the end of September, but after then will cost a buck apiece. After $40 million or so for new buses and shelters, what’s a few thousand dollars for paper schedules?
Speaking of buses, the ones I rode in 1942 were Ford V-8s with manual transmissions, but passenger comfort beat anything made today. They had comfortable seats and chrome grab bars, not the cheap plastic and paint used today.
The new Vine stops look nice, but I’ll bet they are just as hot in the summer and cold in the winter as the old bus stops are.
Next time C-Tran has a few million to spend, ask the drivers and riders for realistic suggestions. For starters, get the paper schedules back on the buses.
