Haley Hanson’s 3-pointer at the buzzer lifted the Papermakers past the Falcons in the third-place game of the 4A bi-district tournament at Mt. Tahoma High School.

Camas (16-7) was ahead by as much as 12 points by the end of the third quarter, but Kentlake (18-7) rallied in the fourth quarter and tied the game with 37 seconds to play.

The Falcons then made two free throws to take a 39-37 lead with 3.8 seconds to play.

That was when Hanson took the inbounds pass, dribbled three-quarters of the way up the court and nailed the game-winning 3-pointer for Camas.

“Kentlake beat us in the regionals last year by one, and by four this year, so they seemed to have our number in close games,” Camas coach Scott Preuninger said. “Things unraveled a bit for us, but the girls kept their composure. This should give us confidence in close games going forward.”

Hanson finished with 11 points, and Courtney Clemmer had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Papermakers.
