Pitchers ruled the day in Class 3A Greater St. Helens League baseball.

Garett Speyer of Union threw a one-hitter, Christian Bannister of Columbia River threw a two-hitter, and Ryan Patterson of Camas took a no-hitter into the final inning Tuesday.

Not surprisingly, all threw picked up the wins.

Patterson lost his no-hit bid when Fort Vancouver’s Hayden Heying singled with an out in the seventh inning.

By then, the Papermakers were in control, ahead 6-0, and settled for a 6-2 win. Patterson struck out six.

Speyer struck out six to lead the Titans. He had hit a two-run home run in a 6-2 win over Prairie.

Bannister struck out 10 in River’s 7-1 victory over Hudson’s Bay.

Camas and Columbia River are tied with 6-1 records in league play. Union is in third at 5-2.
