It’s another one of those bridge weekends

Get your trips to Portland out of your system today, as continuing roadwork on the Interstate 205 bridge could cause weekend traffic jams.

It’s been a months-long process to replace worn-out metal expansion joints in the decking of the bridge, which opened in 1982. On alternating weekends — this weekend is one — traffic will be restricted southbound from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

The first southbound closure, two weeks ago, resulted in only a few minor delays, though officials had predicted it could be much worse.

When fixing the northbound side of the bridge, traffic jams of two hours or more were common.

So how is it out there now? You can always look at the state’s good traffic cam network. The link is HERE.
