BEND, Ore. (AP) — A small dog found tied up inside a plastic garbage bag has been adopted and will be going to its new home Tuesday.

On Jan. 4, a motorist pulled off Deschutes Market Road northeast of Bend to use her cell phone. She saw movement coming from a white trash bag next near the road.

Deschutes County Sheriff’s Lt. Gary Decker says the woman tore open the bag and found a small Pug coated in urine and feces.

The Pug was taken to Humane Society of Central Oregon, where it has been recovering from near suffocation.

The sheriff’s office continues to look for the culprit.
