The Clark County Youth Sports Foundation is seeking support for a project to install scoreboards at the baseball and softball fields at the Evergreen School District high schools.

The foundation, headed by former major league catcher Tom Lampkin, raised funds this year to purchase seven scoreboards. They are to be installed at the baseball fields at Evergreen, Heritage, Mountain View and Union high schools and at the softball fields at Heritage, Mountain View and Union.

Lampkin, the varsity baseball coach at Union High, said that Evergreen softball declined the CCYSF scoreboard.

“We’re looking for anyone in the community who wants to help with the installation” by donating labor or funds to assist the project, Lampkin said.

Lampkin said the CCYSF raised about $47,000 at its January event to purchase scoreboards. Another $26,000 in donations or services is needed to complete the project, he said.

He said the goal is to get the scoreboards installed by this fall.

Formed in 2003 by Lampkin and a group of area youth sports supporters, the CCYSF has awarded grants to assist a variety of Clark County sports organizations.

Anyone interested in assisting with this project, or in learning more the non-profit foundation, can contact the CCYSF at 360-816-9080 or visit www.ccysf.org.
