It was mostly sunny and very warm Saturday, with afternoon temperatures running in the low- to mid-80s. A perfect day, almost summer-like! And what a fantastic day for the parade in Hazel Dell. Like I said here in Thursday’s column, if you want to make some outdoor plans with an almost-certain warm and dry day, schedule it on next year’s Hazel Dell parade day. You can hardly lose.
For those of you who may be interested in climate science, there will be a conference on June 15 and 16 at Portland State University. Students may attend free; for others, the cost is $40. Friday was especially nice around Clark County and elsewhere in the Evergreen state. Vancouver’s high temperature of 77 degrees was the warmest since September 25, when it was 78 degrees. We sure had to wait a long time for that one — let’s see, goodness, eight months! Looking at everyone’s apparel Friday afternoon it appeared spring had more than sprung, summer began to sizzle.
