DETROIT (AP) — Tigers second baseman Carlos Guillen is tentatively scheduled to undergo a diagnostic surgical procedure on his left knee on Sept. 17.

Guillen has been out since Aug. 17 with a deep contusion in the left knee. He was examined on Thursday by Dr. Russ Warren at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

The diagnostic surgical procedure will end Guillen’s season and he is expected to make a full recovery for 2011. Guillen was hitting .273 with six homers and 34 RBIs.
