The Columbia Springs Environmental Education Center will host a free workshop on “lasagna gardening.”

The workshop will be 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 9. An easy way to create a productive garden without digging or tilling, lasagna gardening is a form of composting that layers organic materials such as cardboard, grass clippings, dried leaves, sticks, newspaper, coffee grounds and other organic resources to make a new garden bed.

The workshop will include a hands-on outdoor session during which participants will build a lasagna garden.

Pre-registration is required at http://columbiasprings.org/mcr/classes.html or 360-882-0936, ext. 224.
