Letter: Laird wrong to demonize Tea Party

The Columbian
Published: April 13, 2011, 12:00am

When John Laird tried to demonize the Tea Party, in his April 3 column, “Tea for two: no talk about politics,” one must assume he wants the federal government to continue spending us into bankruptcy. Liberals work on our sympathy by saying that Tea Party efforts would cut funding for women, infants and children. An objective journalist would point out that the Tea Party wants the needy to be cared for by states, counties, cities and private charities, where local people are better able to administer this than bureaucrats in Washington, D.C.
