LEAVENWORTH, Wash. (AP) — The body of a kayaker who overturned Sunday evening in the Wenatchee River at Leavenworth was recovered Monday in about 12 feet of water.

The Chelan County sheriff’s office says 25-year-old Christopher Egan-Pennels of Riverside, Calif., was not wearing a life jacket.

The Wenatchee World reports (http://bit.ly/qP11b6 ) he was an employee of Tube Leavenworth and at the time of the accident he was paddling upstream to contact people floating in the river.
