Mineralogist comes from behind in Saratoga win

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Mineralogist, ridden by David Cohen, rallied in the stretch and then prevailed by a head in a four-horse photo finish to take the $75,000 Saratoga Dew Stakes for fillies and mares bred in New York on Monday at Saratoga Race Course.

The 4-year-old, trained by John Kimmel, ran 1 1/8 miles in 1:53.11 and earned $45,000 for owners Mary ad Chester Broman Sr. Mineralogist paid $17, $7 and $4.70.

Banker’s Buy, the runner-up, paid $3.80 and $2.90, and Go Unbridled, third of six, returned $3.10 to show.
