Elon defeats UNC Greensboro 80-72

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Lucas Troutman and Jack Isenbarger scored 19 points each and Elon defeated UNC Greensboro 80-72 on Monday night.

The Phoenix (6-2, 2-0 Southern Conference) outscored the Spartans 32-22 in the paint and, led by Isenbarger, 31-22 off the bench.

Troutman was 8 of 9 from the field as Elon shot 50 percent for the game (30 of 60), going 8 of 20 from long range (40 percent).

Sebastian Koch added 20 points for the Phoenix, who won their third in a row overall, and fourth straight against UNC Greensboro.

The Phoenix have now opened the season with their best record since 1991-92.

Trevis Simpson led the Spartans (2-7, 0-3) with 27 points. Korey Van Dussen added 13 points for the Spartans, who begin SoCon play 0-3 for the first time since 2003-04.
