Johnson’s 3s lead Hawaii past UC Davis 83-69

DAVIS, Calif. (AP) — Zane Johnson made nine 3-pointers and scored a career-best 32 points to lead Hawaii past UC Davis 83-69 in a BracketBusters game on Saturday.

Johnson, who topped his previous career high of six 3-pointers, made six in the second half alone, including one with 1:11 left that gave the Warriors (15-10) their largest lead at 66-83.

Bill Amis scored 20 points and Vander Joaquim 14 for Hawaii, which shot 60.9 percent from the field.

The Aggies (9-17) led 39-38 just after halftime, but went on to shoot just 37 percent from the field in the second half.

Joe Harden led UC Davis with 19 points while Mark Payne added 12 and Josh Ritchart 11.
