Texas A&M-Corpus Christi wins 70-68

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Garland Judkins had a career-high 17 points and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi held on to beat Sam Houston State 70-68 on Saturday night.

Hollis Hill scored all seven of his points down the stretch for the Islanders (7-12, 2-3 Southland). His layup tied the game at 65, and two more baskets and a free throw closed it out.

Demond Watt scored 12 points and Justin Reynolds scored 10, and each had seven rebounds for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Gilberto Clavell had a game-high 30 points and eight rebounds for Sam Houston State (9-9, 2-3). He scored the final three points for the Bearkats, but the closest they got was 69-68 with 5.4 seconds left. Hill made 1 of 2 free throws and a final Sam Houston State shot missed.

Marcus Williams had 13 points for the Bearkats. Neither team led by more than six points in the game, which featured 10 ties.
