LONDON (AP) — The doctor for Juan Mauricio Soler’s cycling team says the Colombian’s life is no longer in danger after having suffered head injuries in a crash during the Tour of Switzerland last week.

Movistar doctor Alfredo Zuniga said on the team’s website Tuesday that Soler, having been awoken from an induced coma one day earlier, has “begun to make light movements and tests seem to rule out spinal injury.”

Zuniga says Soler will remain in intensive care at St. Gallen hospital for several more days to “see the evolution of possible neurological damage, a process in which we must be patient.”

Soler hit a curb, then smashed into a spectator and a metal fence during the sixth stage of the race on Thursday.
