SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle School Board is holding a public meeting Wednesday night to consider firing Superintendent Maria Goodloe-Johnson.

After a closed-door meeting Tuesday, board President Steve Sundquist said it needed to take swift and decisive action to restore public trust. A state audit recently found the district wasted or misspent $1.8 million in a program to promote women and minority small business contractors.

Chief financial officer Don Kennedy also could be fired.

The board is prepared to name chief academic officer Susan Enfield as interim superintendent. Enfield was deputy superintendent of Evergreen School District from 2006-09.

Goodloe-Johnson has been leading Seattle schools for more than three years. She is currently out of town, caring for her sick mother.
