Letter: Laird acts like a political snob

As honored as I am to have irritated John Laird enough to be attacked personally in his March 20 column, “I’m no elitist; just ask my chauffeur,” I must set the record straight about his blatant dishonesty and misrepresentation of my letter about his political elitism. Apparently his skin isn’t as thick or his humor as good as he claims.

The line he quotes is just one sentence from an admittedly sarcastic rebuttal to his and his daughter’s juvenile little conversation belittling Republicans. It was not, as he stated, one of the many examples I gave of his political elitism. Sadly, this is his standard technique. He can’t win the debate so the next best thing is to try and make the other side seem crazy or stupid. In this case, using an isolated comment to completely change the meaning of what was written.

Here’s some friendly advice for Laird, if you don’t want to be thought of as a political snob, stop acting like one and never lie to try and make a point.
