Haren, Angels beat Padres 9-2

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Mark Trumbo homered and drove in four runs, Peter Bourjos tripled and drove in three and the Los Angeles Angels sent Dan Haren into the regular season on a positive note with a 9-2 victory over the San Diego Padres on Sunday.

Haren, the No. 2 pitcher in the rotation behind Jered Weaver, held the Padres to one run and three hits in five innings.

Haren went 1-3 with a 4.05 ERA in five spring starts. He is set to pitch next Friday night at Kansas City.

Padres lefty Clayton Richard gave up nine runs — seven earned — and 11 hits over five innings. He finished spring training at 1-3 with an 8.47 ERA in four starts. He is scheduled to pitch Saturday at St. Louis.
