Boudia, McCroy advance at diving Grand Prix

FORT LAUDERDALE. Fla. (AP) — Americans David Boudia and Nick McCrory advanced to the men’s 10-meter platform final at the USA Diving Grand Prix with strong semifinal performances Friday.

Boudia and McCrory also secured their berth into July’s world championships in Shanghai, China.

Boudia’s semifinal score of 554.10 was the best of the day at the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Center.

Matthew Mitchum, an Olympic platform gold medalist in 2008 who was dealing with an abdominal injury, earned a spot in Sunday’s final round with a 474.90.

Bo Qiu (550.95) of China and countryman Liang Huo (422.40) also made the finals.
