LONDON (AP) — Chinese favorites Qiu Bo and Lin Yue led the 10-meter platform diving semifinals Saturday, while defending champion Matthew Mitcham of Australia failed to qualify.

The reigning world champion, Qiu advanced with 563.55 points. Lin, who won gold with Huo Liang in 10-meter synchronized at the 2008 Beijing Games, was next with 541.80 points.

David Boudia of the United States qualified third with 531.15 points as he looks to add to his bronze in synchro with Nicholas McCrory. Tom Daley of Britain, the 2009 world champion, placed fourth and drew loud cheers. McCrory also advanced in seventh.

The top 12 finishers advance to the final later Saturday.

Mitcham, who has struggled with injuries, just missed out in 13th.
