SALEM, Ore. (AP) — A decommissioned B-1 bomber is passing through Oregon this week on its way for testing at a Washington Boeing plant.

The Statesman Journal (http://stjr.nl/w1FRya ) reports a convoy is scheduled to haul the bomber through Salem on Interstate 5 Tuesday night.

The Oregon Department of Transportation says the supersonic jet is among the largest loads to be hauled through the state.

The partially-dismantled plane is 135 feet long, 29 feet wide and 15 feet high. Its wings have been removed.

The convoy travels about 45 mph and only between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. It takes up two lanes of traffic, occasionally pulling over to allow vehicles to pass.

The jet is being moved from Tucson, Ariz., to Renton, Wash.
