PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas (AP) — Antwaine Wiggins scored 23 points, including sinking three free throws in the final 18 seconds in College of Charleston’s 68-66 win over UNC Asheville Friday night.
Coming out of a timeout tied at 61-all and 47 seconds on the clock, Charleston’s Anthony Stitt knocked down a jumper for a 63-61 lead that the Cougars (4-1) wouldn’t relinquish in their second game in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament.
Andrew Lawrence then connected on 1 of 2 foul shots, the Bulldogs turned the ball over and Wiggins hit a pair of foul shots to put Charleston up 66-61 with 18 seconds remaining.
Adjehi Baru added 14 points and Lawrence finished with 11 for the Cougars, who edged the Bulldogs by shooting 44.8 percent (26 of 58) from the field compared to a 42.4 mark (25 of 59).
Matt Dickey led UNC Asheville (2-4) with 20 points and Chris Stephenson added 19.
