Peace and justice fair returns to Vancouver

The Columbian
Published: September 4, 2011, 12:00am

The eighth annual Peace and Justice Fair will be Saturday at Esther Short Park.

The free, nonpartisan festival features information booths from a wide variety of local community groups, from churches and nonprofit service providers to social justice advocates and even private businesses interested in pursuing a more peaceful world.

There’s live music on the main stage, costumed re-enactors portraying historic peacemakers, children’s games and activities. New this year is an ecological T-shirt transformation service: Your old T-shirt can be changed into a reusable shopping bag while you wait.

The fair is set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Esther Short Park, downtown Vancouver. Admission is free. For more information, visit http://vancouverpeaceandjusticefair.org.
